We Started a Business That Will Help You Save Energy Costs Heating Your Pool and Hot Tub.

What do hot tubs, saving energy, and a husband/wife business team have in common? Well,
that’s our story. I’m Julia, and the idea for our business was born one wintry day by my husband,
Gerrit.

Gerrit was sitting in our hot tub, trying to relax, one cold January afternoon in 2006. Though the
sun was shining, the temperature was -20 degrees Celsius. This was a problem. Steam was
rising off the water, evaporating up into the frigid air, while the water temperature was
plummeting fast. “There’s got to be a better way,” thought Gerrit. The wheels of his mind began
to turn.

We live in Alberta, Canada, just North of Glacier National Park, Montana. We have four children,
ages 15-25, and all of them have worked, at one time or another, building and shipping our
thermal pool blankets and hot tub thermal blankets. Our family business has allowed for special
family trips and for investing in college funds, but more on that in a future post.

To make a long story short, my husband began a tireless process of creating a product that
would insulate pools and hot tubs, while reducing evaporation and cutting energy costs. Over

the years, we have supplied many happy customers with inground spa covers, thermal floating
pool covers and swim spa floating covers. The journey has been rewarding and it is not over.
He continues to test out new materials that will maximize the advantage of using our covers.
